What happens when you call

Before you call ADI Leak Detection

A few things make the call quicker and the visit more useful:

• Where the water shows, and your result from the leak finder if you used it.
• Your water meter readings with everything off, and whether the meter stops when you close the stop tap.
• If the heating is involved, the boiler pressure at night and again in the morning.
• Photos of any stains or wet patches, and when they appeared.
• Whether you own or rent, and if you plan to claim on your home insurance.

On the call

Say what you have seen and what you have already checked. If your checks point to a visible fitting, such as a leaking trap or a dripping valve, that is usually a job for a plumber.

For a hidden leak, ADI quotes a fixed price for the investigation before you book. This site does not publish prices, because they depend on the job and a stale price is no use to anyone.

Office hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 6:30pm.

On the day of the leak investigation

• ADI allocates a full day to every pipework leak investigation.
• The engineer traces the leak with equipment such as tracer gas, acoustic listening, leak correlation, thermal imaging, borescope cameras and moisture meters.
• The leak is marked on site and explained to you before any repair is discussed.
• Repairs are usually done the same day where possible.
• You get a written report you can give to your insurer.

ADI does not guarantee to find every leak, and does not do drying out or redecorating after water damage. Ask about both on the call if they matter to you.
